Since the end of summer, my skin has been a little worse. I suffer from melasma and hyperpigmentation, but it’s an ongoing battle that I’m fighting passionately. I take tranexamic acid to prevent the recurrence of melasma from June to September, when sun exposure and heat are at their peak. I also use topicals to attack those troublesome spots at the root. This time this year, I stopped taking my medication and became completely reliant on topical application every morning and night to keep my skin bright, especially YSE Beauty’s The Problem Solver Brightening Treatment ($88) .
A stain is a stain, but not all stains are created equal, and some are more difficult to treat than others. Case in point: Hyperpigmentation is a general term for dark spots that appear as freckles or discolored spots and are most commonly caused by sun damage. Melasma, on the other hand, is a more complex type of hyperpigmentation that similarly appears as patchy discoloration on the cheeks, forehead, and lips.
As I well know, melasma is caused by heat, hormones, and sun exposure. There are multiple provocateurs, so a multi-pronged approach is required to keep dark spots at bay. Although I am very careful with my use of retinoids and vitamin C, the Problem Solver Brightening Treatment is paramount in maintaining a melasma-free face all year round.
About YSE Beauty’s The Problem Solver Brightening Treatment
It has a creamy consistency and is well absorbed into the skin. Contains 3 ingredients: tranexamic acid, niacinamide, and licorice root extract. Targets dark spots and hyperpigmentation. Suitable even for the most sensitive skin. Clean, vegan, and cruelty-free.
What I like about YSE Beauty’s The Problem Solver Brightening Treatment
For those who don’t know, YSE Beauty is a skincare brand founded by model and actress Molly Sims. After testing the entire line, I can confidently say that this is not your typical celebrity beauty brand. It’s highly effective, perfect for sensitive skin, and focuses on addressing hyperpigmentation, a plight that’s close and dear to Sims herself.
My skin care routine includes several active ingredients that address different skin issues. I love this product. Because it’s powerful, yet gentle enough to incorporate into my overall system. Tranexamic acid is a powerful ingredient that prevents pigmentation from forming under the skin, making it an important ingredient for eliminating dark spots. I love that it not only improves discoloration, but also improves the skin barrier, boosts hydration with niacinamide, and leaves skin feeling smoother.

How to use YSE Beauty’s The Problem Solver Brightening Treatment
For best results, the brand recommends applying the product both in the morning and at night. In the morning, I apply The Problem Solver Brightening Treatment to blemish-prone areas of my face for maintenance and to prevent melasma from forming in its wake. I do a full skincare routine including moisturizer and then apply the Problem Solver Brightening Treatment. The brand recommends waiting until the product is fully absorbed before using other skin care products. Once set, finish with SPF (non-negotiable to prevent stains).
At night, I apply a skincare routine that includes retinol and moisturizer, and finish with The Problem Solver Brightening Treatment.
Things to consider before trying YSE Beauty’s The Problem Solver Brightening Treatment
There are three important questions to consider before trying The Problem Solver Brightening Treatment. Do you want to reduce blemishes on your face, can you continue to do so, and are you willing to pay the price? If the answer to all three is yes, then you are in the right place. You’ll absolutely love the results.
Is YSE Beauty’s The Problem Solving Whitening Treatment worth the splurge?
Treatment costs are high, but a small amount of treatment can be very effective. Expect it to last about 2-3 months even with daily use. Incorporating active ingredients into your skin care routine requires consistency and patience. You can expect results after about a month of regular use.
