Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is notorious for announcing multiple projects at once and not executing on all of them. The 47-year-old artist recently shared a new single and announced that he will be releasing a solo album soon, continuing his Vultures days.
The 24-time Grammy Award winner hosted a Vultures listening at Wuyuanhe Stadium in Haikou, Hannan province, China, and had some news to share with attendees. “There’s a new album coming out,” he said, playing a new record. “This album is called ‘Bully,’ and this song is called ‘Beauty And The Beast.'” On “Beauty And The Beast,” the Chicago artist sings about having “new tires.” I admit that I am trying to manage my emotions better.
“It’s been a while/New tires, I can still drive,” he sang quietly on the track, posting it on his Instagram. “I’ve got some things I’m getting through/But the checks are still clear, I still think about it every night/I try to stay away from the audience to cheer them up/Don’t take this as rude , I’m sitting here trying my best.” Redirect / I think about it every night and day / Try to distance yourself to cheer up your audience / Take this as rude Please don’t, I’m still here with the trifecta. ” The work is downtempo, a departure from the energy of his “Vultures” series, and is the ideal canvas for Ye to become more vulnerable. Journalist Toure revealed that Yeh’s decision to host a listening party in China was not a coincidence, and that they chose a slightly closer Asian country as a base for producing their new album. “Kanye is currently living in Tokyo, working hard on his next album ‘Bully’ in a hotel,” Touré said. “He’s recording the album in a hotel room. The machines are all set up in the hotel room. It’s a concept album and he’s going to be the sole producer.”
He noted how a Donda artist typically works with a team of producers and writers who help turn his “big ideas” into music, but noted that this venture was different. “Kanye is going to be making this pretty much by himself this time,” he added. “It’s a new chapter in his life because he can be who he wants to be in Tokyo.”
There is currently no set release date for Bully, and given the polarizing nature of the artist, it could be dropped next month or in the next few years. In any case, he kept his fans entertained with the first two editions of his collaborative album Vultures trilogy with Ty Dolla $ign. Their first album was released in February and gained attention with the Billboard chart-topping song “Carnival,” featuring Playboi Carti and Rich the Kid. Their second album will be released in August. Listen to both below.
