OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) — A fire on Interstate 580 in the Oakland Hills on Friday prompted a five-alarm evacuation of hundreds of residents, but what about people and their beloved pets? Is it?

Amanda Davis, a Caballo Hills resident and owner of Temporary Home Pet Rescue, is working tirelessly to help.
In addition to looking for stray animals, Davis also stepped in to retrieve pets that had to be left behind by homeowners who evacuated quickly.
“Pets are so important! Some neighbors didn’t have time to evacuate their animals and only had time to evacuate themselves,” she told KRON4. “Fortunately, we were able to communicate with our neighbors and the police and say, ‘Hey, there’s a dog here.’ ‘Can you come and get it?’ They allowed us inside. (The dog) was very scared and semi-aggressive, but now he’s at the East Bay ASPCA. ”
Davis regularly partners with the East Bay Chapter of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) to rescue and foster pets from her home.
