PHILADELPHIA — Democrat Kamala Harris arrived in three Midwestern battleground states on Monday for a moderated meeting with Republican Liz Cheney, addressing suburban concerns about Republican Donald Trump. They are trying to win the support of voters.
Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to attend a campaign event in Malvern, Pennsylvania at 11:40 a.m. ET. Watch her in the player above.
The vice president will appear in three suburban counties won by Republican Nikki Haley before she withdrew from the race for the Republican nomination. Oakland County, Michigan. and Waukesha County, Wisconsin.
Harris’ companion, Cheney, is a former Republican congressman from Wyoming and a fierce critic of Trump. Their conversation will be moderated by a conservative radio host and a Republican strategist.
With just over two weeks until the presidential election, the campaign is extremely intense, and Democratic candidates are seeking support from all voters. His campaign is trying to woo the undecided, mobilize Democrats who are considering staying out of the race, and target voters in areas where support for Trump may be waning. I’m thinking of doing it.
A few votes here and there could lead to an overall victory. In Waukesha County, for example, Haley received more than 9,000 votes in the primary even after withdrawing from the race. Overall, Wisconsin went to President Joe Biden in 2020 by just 20,000 votes. In-person early voting begins Tuesday in the state.
Cheney and Harris will also be joined at the event by Charles Sykes, a conservative radio host and editor-in-chief of the website Bulwark, and Republican strategist Sarah Longwell.
Cheney supports Harris out of concern for Trump. She lost her seat in the House after serving as co-chair of a congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol. That’s when a violent mob of Trump supporters broke into the building and beat and bloodied law enforcement in a failed attempt to stop the certification of Biden’s 2020 presidential victory.
Cheney is not the only Republican supporting Harris. Last week, more than 100 former Republican politicians and officials joined Harris at Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania, not far from where General George Washington led hundreds of troops across the Delaware River and won a major Revolutionary War victory. joined Mr.
At a rally there, she told Republican voters that the patriotic choice was to vote Democratic.
As the election approaches, the vice president has increasingly focused on Trump’s lies about the 2020 election and his role in the failed efforts of violent groups. She said President Trump is “unstable” and “free-spirited” and would eviscerate democratic norms if given a second term in the White House.
“I believe Donald Trump is a dishonest man,” she tells the rally.
During his campaign, President Trump sought to minimize the violent clashes of January 6, claiming it was a “day of love for millions of people.”
Harris will return to Pennsylvania on Wednesday to take questions from voters at CNN Town Hall in Delaware County.
