WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Are you a cat person or a dog person? Well, for some people, the answer may be snakes, lizards, or birds.
“Birdman is very unique. It’s hard work. It’s not an easy job.”
Crowds gathered at the Fargo Exotic Pet Expo at the Red River Fairgrounds, where vendors showed off unique animals.
“We have a lot of guys who come back third and fourth time, especially the Bengals. They know how they’re being taken care of, how they’re being developed. ”
J2Z Ranch in Eden Plains is home to many unique animals. They took the Bengal cat to the fair.
“Another difference from regular cats is that they’re really talkative. They’re more energetic, so they like to play more and jump more.”
Also at the expo was the Bird Adoption Rescue and Education Center, which showcased birds and helped people learn what it takes to care for them.
“They can live for 80 to 100 years or more if they eat right. Many of them are just around 80 years old. So you know you’re into something this intense. It means you can do it.”
They say these birds may not be for everyone, but connecting with them is truly rewarding.
“Their love is unconditional. Even if we do something wrong, they will forgive us. They are basically our babies. Because they inherently live longer. It’s like having a baby for the rest of your life. Harley gives me cuddles as a reward. Some birds do, some don’t, but she likes spending time with me. .”
