When you pull into the driveway at 774 Bougainvillea Lane in Vero Beach Estates, you’ll feel like you’re in the Bahamas.
“It has a very beachy look,” said James Armstrong, who bought the house 10 years ago after visiting friends and deciding to move to Vero Beach.
Even after Armstrong decided he needed more space to house his dog, he continued to keep the house open so his guests would have a place to stay.
This house is a treasure trove of surprises. It all begins with a shuttered garage door cleverly disguised as a solid wall, a unique and attractive feature that sets this home apart.
A pebble walkway on the side of the house leads to the entrance. The front door opens to a lovely foyer, creating an intimate space to relax before welcoming guests.
“The home is very spacious and elegant,” says Charlotte Terry, brokerage associate at AMAC Alex McWilliam.
The entryway of this Central Beach home opens to the living room. This space spans the width of the house and has multiple windows and transoms that allow natural light to flow in. With built-in furniture and plenty of space for two seating areas, this home is perfect for entertaining. Guests can enjoy a drink at the bar or head out to the covered veranda.
This home is smartly located on a long, narrow lot surrounded by lush native plants. Armstrong said she likes the fact that the bedrooms are on either end of the house, providing privacy for owners and guests.
The main suite is located on the south side of the home and is entered through a pair of pocket doors.
A spacious bedroom with built-in bookcases and cabinetry feels even bigger and has plenty of sunlight thanks to the tray ceiling and rear window.
Suites feature walk-in closets and bathrooms with dual sinks, showers, and bathtubs.
The dining room, family room, and kitchen are located in the north wing of the home, providing an excellent buffer between the guest suite, bathroom, and garage at the front of the home. This layout ensures privacy for both homeowners and guests.
A built-in desk with storage space is strategically placed in the family room. It’s the perfect place to work, manage your finances, or hide your computer while entertaining.
The kitchen island is an efficient space with an expandable countertop, pantry, gas stove, built-in microwave and oven. A large window above the kitchen sink continues into the kitchen, adding airy light to this sunny yellow home. A bright and elegant dining room with large sliding glass doors and a rectangular transom opens onto a covered veranda.
Armstrong says that by closing pocket doors between the guest bedroom and the kitchen/den, you can seal off that area from the rest of the house and give your guests complete privacy. .
Terry points out that a covered lanai with an outdoor wrought-iron gate creates a secret garden area surrounded by lush landscaping and water features, which he likens to Key West-style architecture. I am.
“You could be in the Abacos, Key West, or Charleston,” Terry explains of the intimate garden setting.
“There’s a lot of little nooks and crannies,” she added, adding that there is space to add a pool or spa in the backyard for those who want a private place to swim. Either way, the sea is only a 5-minute walk away, so you can always hit the beach to swim, surf, collect shells, or relax with a book while filling your lungs with fresh sea air. You can.
Vero Beach Estates is part of Central Beach. Humiston Park’s guarded public beach, farmers market and numerous shops and restaurants are within walking distance. Seasonal live concerts and parades are easily accessible by golf cart, foot, or bicycle. Vero Beach Museum of Art, Riverside Park, and Riverside Theater are also nearby.
“I loved being so close to the village,” Armstrong says. He didn’t leave the neighborhood when he bought a new home.
“Central Beach has become very chic,” adds Terry. “It’s very popular because of its proximity to the ocean, rivers, cultural institutions, dining, and beaches. Everything is walkable.”
