BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The UNT football team will conclude its regular season Thursday at UAB before the start of the 2024 American Athletic Conference Tournament.
The Mean Green (7-5-5, 3-3-3) and Blazers (7-4-4, 4-2-3) are tied in the standings. With Thursday’s win, North Texas advances to advance to the No. 5 seed in the league tournament, which begins Nov. 4 in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., ahead of UAB.
If UNT ties or loses Thursday, it could be seeded somewhere between the No. 6 or No. 8 seed in the tournament, depending on other outcomes in the conference.
Thursday’s game at UAB is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
North Texas has the best record in series history with the Blazers at 5-3-1. However, Birmingham was not the preferred road venue for the Mean Green looking for their first road win over the Blazers since 2016. UNT has lost the last two trips to Birmingham (2021 and 2019). UNT is 1-3-0. At UAB, he is 4-0-1 overall and 4-0-1 at home.
UAB remains undefeated at home this season, including a 1-0 home win against Ole Miss on September 5th and a 0-0 tie against Memphis on September 19th. . The Mean Green also held a scoreless draw against the nationally ranked Tigers. At home on Sunday.
