TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse Area District Library and the Northern Michigan Community Council of the Michigan Chapter of the National MS Society will host a program Oct. 22 to educate participants about the impact lifestyle factors have on multiple sclerosis risk.
The event is scheduled for Oct. 22 at 5:30 p.m. at 610 Woodmere Avenue in Traverse City.
Multiple sclerosis is an unpredictable disease that often affects the central nervous system. There is currently no cure for MS.
Symptoms vary from person to person and can range from numbness and tingling to movement disorders, blindness, and paralysis.
An estimated 1 million people in the United States live with MS. Most people are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, and women are three times more affected than men.
The evening will include presentations by two local experts and a Q&A session.

Melissa Goodchild, RDN, CDCES, Munson Medical Center, discusses nutrition as an aspect of successfully living with multiple sclerosis and how a healthy diet can positively impact MS. share.
