How many hotels do you think there are in the world? The United Nations World Travel Organization estimates the number to be around 700,000, but some think it’s closer to 1 million. In other words, there are absolutely a lot of them.
That’s why, when Fodors Travel consulted 750 travel writers and hotel experts, we chose not to rank them on our list of the world’s 100 best hotels. Because it’s too difficult.
But that approach might make sense. After all, we all have different tastes and ideas about luxury. Some people feel most at ease in a sleek, minimalist room on the top floor of a high-rise building, while others prefer luxurious furniture and earthy, warm tones. Lakeside villa.
Whatever your preferences, there should be one or two hotels on this list that you should consider, even if the rooms are a little out of your budget. Here are some of our favorites from Fodor’s Travel’s Top 100 list (see the full version here).
