Last week, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis announced that Los Garza (Angel and Humberto of Legado del Fantasma) would face a mystery team in their first appearance. Footage aired soon after made it much easier to decipher the identity of the mysterious team. Perhaps that’s why WWE, hours before this week’s “SmackDown” began, posted a social media video explicitly showing a meeting between Aldis and MCMG, who had just signed a contract. Aldis also shared that A-Town Down Under has joined the fight instead of facing Los Garza alone. Aldis explained that there will be another three-way tag team match between #DIY, Street Profits, and Pretty Deadly. The winners of each match will face off next week and the winner of that match will win the tag titles.

The first match nearly ended in controversy as Montez Ford pinned Elton Prince and Tommaso Ciampa pinned Kit Wilson at the same time. The Street Profits and #DIY both thought they had won, but Ciampa pinned Wilson, who is a lawman, and Ford pinned Prince, who is not a lawman, so referee Jessica Carr # DIY was declared the winner. As a result, #DIY moved forward, but the profit side was not happy with the decision. In the second match, Sherri and Sabin quickly showed how well they worked together with a combination of legendary moves, with Sherri getting the pin to earn her first win in WWE. The results of the two matches set up an unprecedented tag team match that could see MCMG challenge for the tag titles immediately after their debut.
