KNOXVILLE — The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine (UTCVM) is deploying a mobile animal clinic in Carter County in response to the damage caused by Hurricane Helen. This deployment is in response to a request from the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA).
Dedicated Shelter Medical Team: This team of faculty, veterinarians, and veterinary students establishes a disaster veterinary services clinic. This clinic will provide needed care to pets affected by the hurricane. This is a collaboration between UTCVM, UT Emergency Management, TEMA, and the Humane Society of the United States, with support from Boehringer Ingelheim.
Clinic Services and Details: Care is limited to two pets per person per day. This clinic is designed to treat animals with minor illnesses or injuries. Your veterinarian will also assess your pet’s illness and refer you to a local clinic for further treatment if necessary. Please note that our hospital does not administer vaccinations.
“Providing veterinary services to sick and injured pets is an important part of recovery from Hurricane Helen,” said Dr. Becky DeBolt, clinical associate professor of shelter medicine at UTCVM. “Pets are an important part of our lives and we hope our work will help strengthen the human-animal bond during this difficult time.”

Business hours: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Registration ends: 3pm daily. Maximum of 2 pets per person per day.
