JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – A presidential candidate’s team’s tour bus is parked across the Eastern Carolinas Friday, 18 days until the general election.
Jacksonville voters met with former and current Republican elected officials.
Jerry Coleman, an attendee and Trump supporter, said, “It was great to see everyone and talk to everyone.” “Everyone is like-minded and has a true love for our country.”
The Team Trump tour started in Jacksonville, but made stops throughout the East during the day. Later in the day, Winterville was one of the pit stops. Another supporter in attendance said he was grateful for the opportunity.
“I love it whenever Donald Trump comes to North Carolina,” Ken Roe said. “As I walk down the street and talk to people, there’s a certain energy in the air. I’m feeling very positive about this election.”
Voters packed a Vital Signs store in Jacksonville and spoke with former Trump administration members like Chad Wolf, the former acting secretary of Homeland Security. Matt Whitaker, a former acting U.S. attorney general, also served in the Trump administration. Others also had the chance to sign autographs for the Trump tour bus, but Joe McLaughlin said it was surreal.
“If you look at the thousands of people who signed Bus, you see this is a conservative movement that wants to get back to secure borders, protecting the unborn, and conservative principles in general,” McLaughlin said.
Lowe says it’s early in the election season, but fair elections are key.
“We just want free and fair elections. We don’t want mail-in voting fraud.”
WITN attempted to contact Democratic Party chairmen in various eastern counties, but either did not respond or did not have time for interviews Friday.
Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit Greenville on Monday.
