Inspired by the client’s passion and the bright blue berry-hued cabinetry of St. Louis-based Alspaugh Kitchen & Bath, Bassler brings the outside in by designing “The She Shed,” which is reminiscent of an English garden. I did.
“We combined beautiful colorful florals with emerald green Thibault wallpaper on the cabinets and painted the trim to match the cabinets,” she explains. “We used colorful trim to frame the beautiful garden views (in the large windows).” Unique patterned floors, textured accent pillows, and a beautiful velvet L-shaped sofa also add drama. Highlighting the color palette, the space meets the client’s desire for a cozy space where they can relax and create.
When considering color for your home, Jensen reminds homeowners that incorporating the pigments you’re into into something you love will outlast trends. “Take art, if you like the piece and you like the color blue, it’s no longer a trend,” she says. “Rather, it’s about investing in things you love and things that will make you happy in the long term.”
Don’t be afraid to show your enthusiasm for teal in art, wallpaper, paint, and even decorative details from cushions to rugs. After all, accents in your home can be easily updated whenever you feel like changing colors, Jensen says.
