SMITHOWN, N.Y. — Snoop Bird, a parakeet estimated to be less than a year old, has been named the Smithtown Animal Shelter’s “Pet of the Week.”
She is a parakeet with “exquisite” blue, black and white plumage.
Snoop Bird was brought into the shelter as a stray cat. The shelter said animal experts thought someone might adopt her, but no one came.
“In addition to being gorgeous, Snoop Bird is a sweet keet who enjoys showing off the enchanting sounds of her adorable tweets,” the shelter wrote. “She is new to the shelter and is still getting used to the caretakers, but she is doing well in allowing them access to her cage. With a little patience and a loving, gentle approach, she The team believes, with good reason, that she can be tamed.”
The shelter says Snoop Bird will be the “perfect addition” to any bird-loving family.
“Like most parakeets, she longs for a companion. This little female will be a wonderful addition to the heart and home of a lucky family,” the shelter wrote.
Smithtown Animal Shelter is set up exclusively for dogs and cats. The shelter says it can only rescue one exotic pet at a time.
Current business hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with reservations required on Sunday and Wednesday nights.
