DUBOIS — Spitzer Subaru of Dubois is sponsoring its annual “Subaru Loves Pets” campaign to support the Elk County Humane Society, which is dedicated to “helping paws find loving homes.” It started in October.
ECHS Fundraising Chair June Glass said this is the fifth year the shelter has partnered with Spitzer for the month-long event. As part of its annual pet campaign, Spitzer Subaru of Dubois is donating $100 for each dog and cat adopted from ECHS in October, Glass said. We also carry out donation activities to collect supplies for evacuation centers.
Glass acknowledged that Curtis Smith, who retired from Spitzer Subaru, started a fundraiser for the shelter in October 2020, and it has become a tradition that has continued since its inception.
In a previous Courier-Express article, Spitzer Subaru sales representative Jeannie Dunworth said the dealership is doing its best to stay involved with the community.
“We are so excited that Subaru has given us the opportunity to give back,” she said.
According to www.subaru.com, “Through the Subaru Loves Pet Initiative, Subaru and our dealers are committed to improving the lives of as many shelter animals as possible.” “Pets make the world a better place, and Subaru is proud to help make the world a better place for pets.”
Spitzer Subaru will be holding a pet adoption event at its Dubois dealership on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Some of the animals available for adoption from ECHS will participate in hopes of meeting their future families, Glass said.
Last year’s campaign met its goals, with more than 31 hirings in October, Glass said. We continue to aim to hire at least 31 candidates.
Mr. Glass expressed how grateful he is that ECHS does this for Spitzer Subaru each year.
At this time, shelters are at capacity for dogs and cats and have waiting lists for both, making donations and adoptions more important than ever.
“We have lots of extra cages set up everywhere for all the cats and kittens we house,” she said.
Additionally, ECHS is hosting a donation drive to purchase a new van. The Doris Stackpole Foundation offered to match the $20,000 raised by the shelter toward its purchase.
“This will be very useful when animals have to be transported,” she said, noting that this is an expensive process.
There are also 50/50 draws throughout the year. Tickets are on sale at ECHS. Winner will be announced on December 31, 2024. Tickets are $5 each, with proceeds going to the shelter and its ongoing costs.
According to the shelter’s Facebook page, daily donations include bleach. Toilet paper and paper towels. kitchen trash bag gas gift card. And laundry detergent. Dog Supplies – Dry dog food without colorants. snack. stuffed toy. Medium and large collars. Cat Supplies – Dry food for adult cats and kittens without added dyes. Toys, treats, catnip.
