Channel 4 recommissioned daytime franchise Chateau DIY and festive Christmas spin-off series Chateau DIY, with orders increasing over two years.
Spark Media Partners created the daytime franchise in 2018 and created a wholly-owned subsidiary, Kindle Media, to produce all of the company’s Chateau-related content.
Previously, main series have been ordered as half-hour episodes, but over the next two years orders have expanded to 45 episodes for each series.
Chateau DIY at Christmas was first launched in 2021. As part of the Bumper relaunch, the festive series will continue with two further five-part series in 2024 and 2025.
Chateau DIY was recommissioned by Jo Street, National and Regional Commissioning Director, and Jayne Stanger, Senior Commissioning Editor, Lifestyle Magazine, and produced in collaboration with Geoff Hatfield-Powell, Chief Creative Officer at Spark. We have secured the relocation of the format that will be used. Spark Media North, a regional hub; Hatfield-Powell will continue as executive producer, with Richard Park serving as series editor and Izzy Boots as line producer.
Mr Hatfield-Powell moved to Sheffield in 2020 to set up Spark’s regional division and has so far produced a 15-part daytime series, Channel 4’s Tool Club and a fully-funded BBC show outside of Texas. has produced a prime-time quiz pilot. Selected as a recipient of the BBC’s Small Indies Fund.
Hatfield-Powell, who has led Chateau DIY since its launch and created each of its spin-offs, said: “Chateau DIY is a popular franchise that continues to be distributed on linear and streaming, which is why Channel 4 is excited to expand on it. The Chateau DIY brand also includes the More 4 spin-off series Chateau DIY:Living the Dream, which recently concluded its second series on the channel. Cineflix Rights is the exclusive distribution partner for all Chateau titles.
