Snoop Dogg’s parenting advice: ‘I try to use tough love’
Snoop Dogg appeared on a new segment of the TODAY show with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager. During the conversation, the hosts brought up the cover of the latest issue of Men’s Health, which features Bronny James, the son of NBA icon LeBron James. The former recently took the court with his father for the 2024-25 basketball season. Jenna shared with Snoop, a “hardcore” Lakers fan, the advice LeBron gave to his son following in his father’s footsteps: “Turn off all the noise.”
Snoop reacted to LeBron’s words to his son, saying, “That’s great advice.” Hoda went on to ask the rapper what advice he gives his children. Snoop replied: It’s just the truth. He explained, “I try to give them some tough love.” The singer added that she teaches her children “the reality of what happens outside the home.”
Snoop said the creation of “big shoe prints” was a combination of anticipation and his own experience. But his children cannot “get in there.” Snoop added that he wants them to create their own “lasts.” “It’s about being your own individual, creating your own lane, creating your own persona to match who you want to be in this life.” And he said, “You can’t live my life, and neither can I.” I can’t live your life.”
Afterwards, Snoop said that his daughter and younger son love their father’s business and that “they really have a knack for it.” However, the singer said he is “not forcing anything” on his children. Instead, he supports them in everything they do.
