What’s going on inside?
Obviously, the hook here is the boots. And at 690 liters with the rear seats upright, it’s 30 liters more than its predecessor, making a mockery of all but the VW Passat Estate in its class (which shares the same underpinnings). There is. It’s huge.
That applies to mild hybrids and petrol/diesel. The PHEV loses quite a bit to the battery under the boot floor, giving back 510 liters with the seats up and 1,770 liters below. But that’s still more than most everyday SUVs.

It’s equally comfortable for passengers, with acres of headroom and (especially) legroom both front and rear. This would make family vacations so much easier, but why anyone would choose a crossover over this is anyone’s guess.
And you feel the part through the high-quality (sustainable) materials and overall finish. It’s certainly not as flashy as its rivals, but it gives off a luxurious feel without trying too hard, and the ergonomics are also very pleasing.
Is there anything else important besides boots?
Yes, actually. As is the way these days, the screens are bigger than ever, with all trim levels now featuring a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch freestanding touchscreen (there’s also an optional head-up display). . That’s really generous.
But as we’ve seen elsewhere, more screens aren’t always a good thing. All buttons are often absorbed by the touchscreen. Gah.

But here Skoda has introduced the so-called smart dial. These three dials, located below the main touchscreen, each incorporate a 32mm digital display. The two outer dials control temperature, seat heating, and seat ventilation, while the center dial is customizable and has up to four functions: infotainment volume, fan speed, wind direction, smart climate control, driving mode, and map zoom. (cannot be manipulated by the user). The latter is required if you are using Google Maps).
A short press toggles between each function, and a twist in either direction adjusts settings. We are big fans of their innovation and ease of functionality. Other manufacturers should also take note. They have good reason to buy this instead of the Passat.
Does it have all of Skoda’s usual fancy toys?
Perhaps you just mean the smart part, but the short answer is yes. The long answer is that there are 28 of them, ranging from well-known favorites like the parking ticket clip on the A-pillar, the ice scraper on the gas filler cap, and the umbrella on the driver’s door to new ideas debuting.
These include an electric load cover for convenience for people with short arms, a smartphone pocket in the front seatbacks, and a new sliding rear center armrest with two integrated cup holders and a tablet holder. handy.
