CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – The “Gatsby-like Party Dinner and Comedy Show” benefiting pets in Southeast Missouri will be held at the Osage Center in Cape Girardeau on Saturday, Oct. 26.
Doors open at 5:30pm for cocktail hour. Dinner by T-Ravs will be served at 6:30 p.m.
The menu includes chicken parmesan, beef brisket, marsala, roasted potatoes, flame-grilled vegetables, green beans, rolls and a dessert bar with a chocolate fountain.
Entertainment begins at 8 p.m. with Comedy to the Rescue. Comedian Clay Foley leads the organization, which partners with animal shelters across the country to bring laughter and raise money.
Organizers say the night will include a silent auction and music by Joy Brooker.
Attendees can also optionally participate in a Gatsby-themed costume contest and games about 1920s slang and pricing.
Tickets are $50 and can be purchased online or by phone at 573-334-5837. Proceeds support SEMO Pets.
The nonprofit’s efforts help animals like Lydia, a 2-month-old puppy who survived canine parvovirus.
Two-month-old puppy Lydia is a survivor of canine parvovirus and is currently being cared for at Southeast Missouri Pets (KFVS).
A complete list of adoptable dogs and cats can be found here.
If families are unable to adopt a new pet at this time, there are still ways to help through volunteering.
“We’re always looking for new volunteers to lend their legs to dogs like Lydia,” Mariah Barker said. “From cleaning the kennels to interacting with the dogs and cats, it’s all a lot of fun…and (you) really, really feel like you’re playing a great role in the community and giving back.”
The next SEMO Pet Volunteer Orientation will be held in November.
