It is very disappointing to have Roxy on the list again. This shepherd mix was our Christmas, 2023 Pet of the Week and is still at Second Chance Animal Services. “This gorgeous, intelligent woman was adopted as a puppy and had never been properly socialized with people or animals,” volunteers said.
The ideal home for her would be adults only and no other animals. Roxy is reactive and requires multiple “meet and greets” with potential pet parents. She needs time to learn to trust, and continued muzzle training is essential when she goes out into the outside world. Roxy is thriving while away from the chaotic and unpredictable shelter environment. She loves spending precious time with her favorite dedicated volunteers, driving and hiking. She especially teaches students to “use their brains to outwit interactive toys and puzzles, and use their powerful noses to sniff and explore (especially finding hidden snacks left in beds and dog kennels). )” is enjoyed. Roxy’s adoption costs were paid by generous donors. If you think there is a cure for Roxy, please call us at 508-867-5525.
