Rockstar Games appears to be working on a native PS5 port of Red Dead Redemption 2, according to an employee’s resume. A current-gen release of RDR2 has been rumored for a while, and at one point was confirmed to be in development by internal Microsoft documents, but Rockstar has reportedly canceled the port.
Red Dead Redemption 2 PS5 version could be released at the same time as PS5 Pro
The leak was brought to you by X user bogorad222, who saw “Red Dead Redemption PS5/Switch” mentioned on the LinkedIn profile of Rockstar Games Production Coordinator Emma Anderson. I’ve also seen the profile in question, and it has a verified badge so you can confirm its authenticity.
RDR1 was released on PS4 and Switch last year, followed by a 60 FPS patch on PS5. This makes me wonder if Anderson is referring to RDR2.
Notably, Anderson’s profile states that she started her current position in June 2023. This comes just before the PS4/Switch launch, and a year after rumors spread that Rockstar Games had canceled the current-gen port of RDR2.
There are two possibilities here: 1. Anderson is referring to a PS5 update of RDR1, not a native PS5 port of RDR2. It makes no sense to release RDR1 again after the 60 FPS patch. 2. Rockstar Games will not stop porting/developing RDR2 to PS5 and plans to utilize PS5 Pro.
