The rebellious husband recently learned that he had been issued with a delayed departure order as part of sanctions granted by Beisuddin to persuade him to grant the divorce. When his request to cancel the order was denied, he decided to transfer the rights to his wife.
The two got married 10 years ago, and the woman asked for a divorce two years ago, but the husband refused for various reasons. The woman sought help from Yad Risha, and Rebbetzin Dina Reichik, the lawyer who represented her, succeeded in getting her husband sanctioned.
Despite sanctions, including a lien on her bank account, her husband relented until he found out he would be unable to attend Uman’s prayers on Rosh Hashana. “We recognized the opportunity to put pressure on him again and refused to revoke the order to send him off,” Rebbetzin Raychik added. “In the end, his love for the tzaddik outweighed his ‘love’ for his wife. I am glad that the woman finished the year as a free woman. We were married against our will. We will continue to fight for the freedom of all our clients who are trapped in their lives.”
