As a famous foodie, you’d be forgiven for thinking Queen Camilla’s son Tom Parker Bowles lives a luxurious life when it comes to his diet.
But in an exclusive chat with HELLO!, the 49-year-old revealed that as he neared his 50th birthday, he overhauled his lifestyle and opted for a more restrained approach to eating and drinking.
The author said that as her milestone birthday approaches, she is drinking and eating less and taking Pilates classes. “Everyone else is 20 years old, toned and chiseled,” he said of his fellow Pilates participants. “Sometimes I sit in the corner because I’m the only one there.”

A lifestyle overhaul led Tom to follow in the footsteps of his health-conscious mother, and the author shares the image of Queen Camilla as a hard drinker and smoker, and that couldn’t be further from the truth.
“I’ve never seen[my mother]happy. She doesn’t drink gin and hasn’t smoked for years,” he says.

In fact, Charles III’s wife reportedly smoked 10 cigarettes a day until 2001, when she decided to quit smoking permanently due to health concerns.
At the time, the Daily Mail reported that Queen Camilla’s rhinitis (inflammation of the nose caused by allergies that causes uncontrollable coughing and sneezing) led to her decision to quit smoking.

The royal family was a regular smoker until they quit smoking in 2001. She was reportedly addicted to the habit for 30 years before finally managing to quit around 2000.

According to some reports, Camilla quit smoking because, in addition to concerns about her own health, her husband Charles doesn’t like it.
King Charles’ official royal website once featured the fact that Camilla was a smoker in its FAQ section. It read: “The Duchess of Cornwall (now the Queen) quit smoking many years ago.”

The Queen reportedly went on a trek to the Himalayas to “reinvigorate” her spirit and tried to quit smoking.
The trip was hosted by Dr. Mosaraf Ali, a health guru who was King Charles’ favorite at the time. Queen Camilla, then 53, was said to have been a regular visitor to Dr Ali’s clinic in London, where she was encouraged to try yoga to combat back pain and quit smoking.
