Donald Trump has returned to the venue in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he survived an assassination attempt just three months ago.
Billionaire and ardent Trump supporter Elon Musk also joined on stage at the rally, marking the first time Trump has been elected since the Tesla CEO endorsed him shortly after the July shootings. It was the first time he appeared in public at an event.
Mr. Musk falsely claimed that Democratic officials wanted to disenfranchise Americans and suggested that if Mr. Trump did not defeat Kamala Harris in November, “this would be the last election.”
J.D. Vance, Eric Trump and his wife Lara Trump (co-chair of the Republican National Committee), and other prominent Trump allies and donors attended the rally. The family of former Fire Chief Corey Comperatore, who was killed in the attack, was also in attendance.
After a series of failures by the Secret Service at the July 13 rally revealed in a damning Congressional report, the Secret Service has provided numerous security enhancements. There will be a “large, organized law enforcement presence” at the rally, a law enforcement source familiar with the plans told The Independent.

President Trump falsely suggests rivals “tried to kill me” at rally at scene of assassination attempt
Full text: Donald Trump returned to the scene of his near-assassination this summer, and he doesn’t seem to have changed a bit in the face of death.
On Saturday night, President Trump returned to Butler, Pennsylvania, and came out to a live performance of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA,” opening with the words “I told you so.” It was mentioned that the last meeting of the group had ended. Suddenly, a gunman fired an AR-15 at the stage, grazing the ear and killing one attendee and injuring two others.
Rather than giving the former president a new perspective on the domestic political situation, President Trump’s comments appear to have made him more unstable. During the rally, he suggested that his political opponents “maybe tried to kill me.”

President Trump falsely claims immigrant children are ‘dead, enslaved or simply missing’
President Trump has repeatedly falsely said that tens of thousands of immigrant children are missing, dead or in “slavery.”
He criticized Kamala Harris for claiming that children “died, were enslaved, or simply disappeared” after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.
He accused ICE of consistently failing to “monitor the location and status of unaccompanied immigrant children” even after their release from federal custody. fundamentally misrepresents the report.
The report noted that as of May 2024, more than 291,000 unaccompanied migrant children had not received a court appearance notice. However, there are many reasons why such things can happen, such as missing or not updated documents or family members not being able to come to court.
His statement also comes as the administration’s own family separation policy, in which federal authorities separate children, including infants, from their parents or guardians after they enter the United States is under renewed scrutiny. As of early this year, thousands still had not been reunited with their families.
