The search continues for a puppy allegedly taken from a pet store in Northern Virginia.
It happened this week at the XO Pups store in Chantilly. Fairfax County police are reviewing surveillance footage after a store owner reported his 10-week-old Maltipoo stolen.
The store’s owner, Ayman Koshok, said many people visit the store to admire their new furry friends and, if possible, pay to take them home.
Video from the store’s surveillance camera shows the moment the two are seen together with a Maltipoo puppy. Koshoku said the pair grabbed the puppy from behind before leaving the store.
Koshok said a kennel technician was working behind the scenes and the manager was attending to another customer when the puppies were taken away.
“What they did was completely wrong and a crime,” he said. “They will be punished for that.”
Security camera footage shows the puppy dangling from one of the suspect’s hands behind a wall inside the store, while another camera angle shows the pair attempting to exit through the front door. was.
“We’ve never had a problem like that here before, so it’s really unusual and unexpected,” Koshok says. “Apparently these guys had a plan. They had a plan for what they wanted to do.”
Koshoku said the puppy arrived at the store two weeks ago with his siblings. The puppy is worth $4,000.
The first priority, he says, is to “check on the puppy and make sure we’re okay.”
This remains an active investigation, and Fairfax County Police said they are reviewing surveillance video.
