All pets can be adopted for free until Oct. 15 during Pima Animal Care Center’s “Empty the Shelter” campaign, sponsored by the Bissell Pet Foundation.
Additionally, the shelter will offer a free crate to anyone adopting a dog weighing 40 pounds or more from Oct. 11 to Oct. 13. Additionally, PACC will be open late from Oct. 12 to Oct. 13 until 6 p.m. Increase the amount of time it takes for adoptees to get to the shelter.
Currently, the shelter has more than 500 dogs and 100 cats looking for adoption, and the number of pets being adopted outnumbers the number of adopters.
PACC Director Monica Dangler said the shelter needs the community’s help both in finding homes for PACC’s pets and in fostering and reuniting them with their families.
“Our community can really help Pima County pets on both sides of the equation,” Dangler said. “By helping to rehome lost pets, keeping ID tags on pets, and helping spread the word about what’s going on at PACC, we can help those in need, even if they are unable to foster or adopt at this time. You can help your pet.
The shelter is now offering free customized pet ID tags to all pet owners, courtesy of Friends of Pima Animal Care Center.
