Former This Morning host Phillip Schofield has announced the death of his mother after a “heartbreaking weekend”.
“I will forever be proud and honored that she was my mom. I love you mom, forever,” Schofield said.
He shared several photos of his mother, Pat, on his Instagram Stories, including one of her walking on wings, and called her “one of the oldest women ever.”
The former TV host wrote that she died on Monday afternoon, calling her “a gentle, peaceful, beautiful and dignified person.”
It is widely reported that she died at the age of 88.
“After a heartbreaking weekend, my wonderful mother decided it was time to go and be with her beloved (husband) Brian,” he said.
“For three days, we held her, loved her, hugged her, and said everything we needed to say,” Schofield added, adding, “In the past and this weekend, I cherished my mother and our angel. Thank you to the medical team.
His father passed away in 2008.
News of his mother’s death follows Mr Schofield’s recent solo appearance on Channel 5’s Cast Away, in which he spoke about leaving ITV in 2023 and lied. , later admitted to having an affair with a young employee at his company.
He then disappeared from the spotlight, telling the BBC that his career was over.
In Cast Away, his first return to series television since leaving ITV, Schofield spent 10 days alone on a small island off the coast of Madagascar.
He hinted on the show that this would be his last television appearance.
