Pets at Home used Microsoft technology to develop an AI agent for its interest protection team.
This agent is intended to more efficiently edit cases for review by skilled humans.
The pet care retailer was an early adopter of Microsoft’s Copilot Studio, which allows companies to create agents to support different areas of their business.
Agents are AI tools that can operate and coordinate business activities on behalf of individuals or teams. These range from simple prompt-and-response agents to fully autonomous agents, but Microsoft’s Copilot is a way for people to interact with these agents.
Pets at Home currently has approximately 450 stores, an e-commerce site, 450 independently operated veterinary clinics, and a grooming service that styles 17,000 pets each week.
“Agent’s solution allows profit protection teams to more effectively evaluate potential profit loss cases and spend more time on skilled analysis rather than just information gathering.” Pets at Home Best said William Hewish, Director of Information.
The news comes as Microsoft announced the ability to create autonomous agents to help build capacity for sales, service, finance, and supply chain teams.
With early access to Copilot Studio’s agent-building capabilities, Pets at Home also created an agent as part of the trial to help its retail fraud detection team investigate suspicious transactions.
Additionally, we are testing a customized version of our transcription tool with a co-pilot component to transcribe during some clinical visits and surgeries.
“The recent AI scribing trial is very exciting because it allows our clinical colleagues to spend more time doing what they do best: seeing patients and caring for our nation’s pets.” , said Dr. Sam Butler-Davis, Director of Veterinary Services at Vets for Pets. and household pets. “Having notes available for review as soon as a consultation or procedure begins can completely change the way veterinary colleagues plan their time.
“We are not suggesting that this completely replaces the need for human notes or expert clinical review. This is important to help colleagues provide care where and how it is needed most. It’s a useful tool to help you pass the time.”
The company may also explore how this technology can help with scheduling and planning.
Beyond the use of AI for profit protection, fraud, and writing, Pets at Home plans to expand Microsoft technology into other areas of its business.
