JACKSON, MI — The Jackson County Animal Shelter, located at 3770 Spring Arbor Road, has many pets available for adoption.
Here we will introduce two of them.
Blue is a 4 year old American Staffordshire mix. Don’t be confused, Blue is actually black (the pink collar is just showing support for breast cancer research).
He has a cheerful personality and is excited to go outside and play with his humans. Blue is house trained and knows some basic commands. He is learning how to walk better on a leash, but it doesn’t take long.
Hazelnut is a 4 year old calico cat who came to us as a stray. She is a beautiful black color with splashes of orange.
She currently lives with several other calico cats and they all get along well. Hazelnut is a very friendly girl who happily meets visitors and loves to be petted.
In some cultures, calico cats are thought to bring good luck. In Japan, calico is believed to protect ships from severe storms and ghosts.
An online application is required to adopt a dog. Meeting the dog is also a must. You can use a cat room walkthrough to test your reactions. Dog adoption fees are $150 for medium and large dogs and $250 for puppies and small dogs, and include vaccinations, microchip and neutering.
Cat adoption fees are $60 for one cat or $80 for two cats and include applicable exams, vaccinations, and spay/neuter.
