As Hurricane Milton heads towards the coast of Florida, it’s important to protect yourself and your pets. Gulf Coast High School is one of several emergency shelters scheduled to open Tuesday as Milton approaches. General shelters will open at 4 p.m. Gulf Coast High School, Immokalee High School, Golden Gate High School, and Oak Ridge Middle School. Pet-friendly shelters include Corkscrew Middle School, Cypress Palm Middle School, and Golden Gate Middle School. If you plan to bring your pet, please be sure to bring it with you. For those with special needs, a designated shelter will open at Palmetto Ridge High School at 2 p.m. This is for pre-registered people who need electricity or care. A family member or caregiver must be present. Please note that services at all shelters are very limited. Therefore, please bring essentials such as medicine, food, water, and bedding. Gulf Coast High School is one of several emergency shelters scheduled to open Tuesday as Milton approaches.
General evacuation centers at Gulf Coast High School, Immokalee High School, Golden Gate High School and Oak Ridge Middle School will open at 4 p.m.
Pet-friendly shelters include Corkscrew Middle School, Cypress Palm Middle School, and Golden Gate Middle School.
If you plan to bring your pet, please be sure to bring the essentials and store them in a crate, as they will be kept in a separate area.
For those with special needs, a designated shelter will open at Palmetto Ridge High School at 2 p.m.
