The Brandywine Valley SPCA and the Harrisburg Area Humane Society are welcoming approximately 100 rescue animals from Florida. The animals, which were already shelter pets before the storm, were being airlifted to Chester County Airport from the Hillsboro Pet Resource Center and Friends of Strays in West Palm Beach. The flight will bring cats, kittens and dogs to the Brandywine Valley SPCA’s Westchester and New Castle campuses, as well as the Harrisburg Area Humane Society. This will allow shelters in affected areas to focus on recovering and supporting pets separated from their families. This new influx of animals comes just three days after the Brandywine Valley SPCA received 30 rescue cats and kittens from areas affected by Hurricane Milton. All animals arriving in Pennsylvania will be evaluated by a medical team and some will be available for adoption upon arrival. Some will make their adoption debuts Sunday, according to the Brandywine Valley SPCA. To encourage adoptions, these adoption agencies are waiving adoption fees for all large adult dogs and cats until October 16th.
