Thanks to Lido’s annual event, numerous dogs were able to swim with their owners.
People came from all over the UK to take part in dog swimming sessions at Sandford Parks Lidos, based on Keynsham Road, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
The event will be held over two consecutive weekends starting October 12th, allowing animals to enjoy the pool before it is drained for the winter.
Nicole Mitchell, who lives in Taunton, said she wanted to go again after seeing her dog, an Australian Shepherd, swimming laps around the pool.
“This is his first time at the Lido and he loves the water and is very excited.
“He was a little scared at first because he was trying to judge the depth of the water. As soon as he knew how to get out, he jumped in there,” she added.

Owners are encouraged to bathe with their pets for some fun bonding time, or to help senior puppies who need more support in the water.
Irish Potekary said her dog, who was afraid of water as a puppy, now refuses to leave the pool.
“He’s very sociable and likes to play with other dogs, but when he’s out there his mind is totally on the ball,” she said.
She added that the event was “like a community” where everyone looked out for each other’s dogs and brought their dogs out to play for hours.

Ruby Jenkins brought her 3-year-old Labrador, Stevie, for the third year in a row.
“She’s a little wild in the water,” she said.
“Being able to get in the water with your dog is a great reward rather than watching them swim in a dirty lake.”
