The New Jersey Department of Transportation will spend $15 million to replace train windows that have become opaque due to nearly 20 years of weather elements such as air friction, acid rain, heat and even ultraviolet light.
A typical travel ritual is to board a NJ Transit train with your partner, then madly move from car to car to find an empty window. This rare experience made my female friend exclaim, “I found it!”
A debate arises as to whether to accept this finding or move on to potentially better opportunities. Let me tell you, if you can find a clean window, it’s worth two in the adjoining lot.
A common sight on many New Jersey Department of Transportation trains (LA Parker/The Trentonian)
Part of the appeal of traveling by train is admiring the scenery from the train window. Excitement builds as the train arrives in New Brunswick and we get a glimpse of development activity at the Health & Life Sciences Exchange (HELIX). The $750 million private-public project includes a 42-story mixed-use building.
Sitting in the grayish canister of a New Jersey transit system, I inevitably see a potential scene for a sequel to Cormac McCarthy’s The Road, a post-apocalyptic novel about the psychological challenges of survival and struggle. is remembered.
Of course, the train from Trenton to New York City pays homage to musician Steve Winwood’s Night Train.
(From a night that burns with light)
I won’t look back at the train that shines black. Life runs on.
I hope someday someone will say this
Now that you have it made, pull up the awning and let the sunlight in.
On the night train, I feel the starlight being stolen from me.
Use up your whole life looking for the end of the day. )
You’ll be happy to know that NJ Transit is planning a complete overhaul of its windows, with upgrades that will improve the travel experience for commuters and train passengers.
Well, we’ll wrap things up with The Fifth Dimension (10 million people asked who?), a black avant-garde pop-rock group from the late 1960s who had huge hits, including two Grammy Awards.
It won’t be long before every New Jersey Transit passenger will be able to sing the group’s hit song “Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In.”
Let’s soak up the sunshine (you gotta feel it)
Let the sunlight in (when you open your heart)
Sunlight comes in (you have to let the sun come in)
(And you’ll find out in the morning)
Soak up the sunshine (and stay late into the night)
Let the sunshine in (open your heart).
