The Fairmount Memorial Society will open the first-ever memorial garden in Eastern Washington where people and their pets can be cremated and buried together.
SPOKANE, Wash. — Some people are so close to their pets that they don’t want to be without them, even if they die.
Now, that’s no longer necessary, thanks to the opening of the first pet-friendly cemetery in Eastern Washington.
The Fairmount Memorial Society will open the first-ever memorial garden in Eastern Washington where people and their pets can be cremated and buried together.
Fairmount Memorial Association owns seven cemeteries and five funeral homes in the Greater Spokane area. This is the 13th new pet memorial.
The garden, dubbed Timber Run Reserve, will offer memorial services ranging from $1,000 to $25,000.
Fairmount Memorial Association CEO Dave Ittner said the idea came from a designer in Littleton, Colorado, who saw the potential to offer this unique service in Spokane. .
“I think more and more people are thinking of their pets as children. I think there’s a family that bought here and they have eight German shepherds,” Itner said. said.
People can place ashes with their beloved pets in a variety of ways in their gardens, including on the wall of a memorial niche or in a carved granite ground.
“The crevices are where cremated remains are placed, and as I mentioned earlier, cremated pet and human remains will be able to be placed in these crevice walls,” Ittner said.
Ittner also said the project was long overdue.
“I get asked almost every day by people: Can I leave my pet with me?” Ittner said.
Staff also said the amenities are meant to bring loved ones together.
“There will be sitting areas, water facilities and fire pits where people can sit around a fire and share memories with their loved ones,” said Sandra Walker, chief operating officer of the Fairmount Memorial Association. Ta.
Timber Run Reserve has already received more than $100,000 in advance inquiries.
