A new beauty lounge offering a hair salon, nail salon, spa, makeup services and hair removal will soon open at Knights Plaza.
Kristen Heath, Director of Operations for KC Beauty Lounge, and Cindy Grossman, CEO of KC Beauty Lounge, are the founding brains of this business. The origin of the name KC Beauty Lounge is said to be a combination of the first letters of each name.
The beauty lounge will be located at the former Princeton Review site between Subway and Domino’s Pizza, owners said. Grossman and Heath said the project has been in the works for nearly two years, but there have been some setbacks related to the permitting process and compliance with current regulations.
“This is going to be the most up-to-date and prescriptive salon and spot you’ve ever been to,” Heath said.
Grossman said he has more than 30 years of experience in luxury retail management and has worked for companies such as Nordstrom and Montblanc. Mr. Heath said he has been running a sugar-coated hair removal business for the past few years.
“We believed in what we wanted to do for UCF students, faculty and, of course, the neighboring community,” Grossman said. “I think we really wanted them to take care of themselves.”
Grossman and Heath said their Beauty Lounge is a 3,000-square-foot, full-service salon and spa that includes a six-chair hair salon and eight pedicure stations and is open to the public.
“Having diversity for everyone is a big thing for us,” Heath said.
The salon and spa will offer hair removal services such as sugaring and waxing, as well as eyelash services and facials, according to its website. In addition, Grossman said customers will have access to a beverage station.
“We’re always willing to do specials,” Grossman said. We will be holding fun events such as raffles from time to time.
Grossman and Heath said they chose to open their first business in UCF because they believed they could have a positive impact on the community.
“We believed that students needed to have this service on this campus,” Heath said. “A lot of campuses don’t offer this, so it would be nice to see in the future that other campuses might be able to offer this.”
This will be the only salon currently offering manicures and pedicures on the UCF campus, but Revamp at UCF Barber Shop, which was founded in 2018 and is located in the hallway of the John T. Washington Center, will be replaced, according to university maps. there is. It primarily advertises itself as offering haircuts and beard care.
Theo Gatsakos, a junior advertising and public relations major, said he lives in the Towers Apartments on campus and doesn’t have a car, making it difficult for him to get to places off campus. She said KC Beauty Lounge is more convenient if she needs a haircut or other services.
“My biggest concern is that because it’s on campus and it’s so convenient, we’re going to charge a premium for everyone, because there’s a lot of convenience fees and things like that on campus,” Gatsakos said.
Grossman said students interested in learning more about KC Beauty Lounge can visit Grossman and Heath at the Market Wednesday booth outside the Student Union starting next semester. Both companies aim to introduce new concepts to the UCF community and have a positive impact on campus, Grossman added.
“If we can do quality work at a fair price, I think we can be really successful,” Gatsakos said.
