Funds raised at Mutt Strut support PAWS’ life-saving programs, including low-cost veterinary care for local pets and homeless animal rescue and adoption. With an astonishing number of stray and surrendered pets entering city shelters every day, loving adoption homes provide critical space for the animals whose lives depend on it. Dogs like Johnny Cash (right) are waiting for their perfect mate. Johnny is a resilient 18-year-old who has made remarkable progress in foster care after sustaining multiple injuries. Where once he was fearful and closed-minded, he is now a fun-loving, friendly dog who is happy to please when he feels safe. Johnny is looking for a gentle and patient family who understands his shy nature and continues to comfort him.
Funds raised through Mutt Strut will also support PAWS’ Safety Net Program, which provides critical assistance to pet owners in Philadelphia. After unexpectedly losing her pet-friendly home, Ashantia found an alternative to relinquishing her pet through PAWS. Instead of saying goodbye forever, Ashantia was able to adopt her beloved pet through a safety net adoption program. This initiative keeps pets out of shelters and provides a lifeline for pet owners who need time to get through this difficult time. After spending a few weeks safely in a foster home, Ashantia’s beloved pets were reunited and are now happily living together at home.
Because PAWS is 100% donor-funded, we continue to provide Philadelphia pet owners with the resources they need, while also rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals who have nowhere else to go. Fundraisers like Mutt Strut are playing an important role in our efforts to bring the world back to life. . PAWS participates in, supports, and volunteers to make the 18th Mutt Strut not only a memorable day, but one that continues to have a positive impact on animals and people in need throughout the year. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all those who
