A mother has been dragged online after sharing a “parenting hack” that lets her daughter choose everything she wants when she goes shopping, but only selects a few things she actually buys when she goes to the checkout counter. There is.
Store employees then have to return all the unwanted items thrown away by the child, which the mother believes is “their job.”
Mom shares controversial parenting ‘hack’
The clip has since been deleted, but was reposted by another TikTok user, @unpluggedmoments, who hasn’t been shy about sharing his thoughts on controversial parenting tips.
“Apparently, she lets her daughter go into the store and pick out whatever she wants, but when she goes to the register, she picks out some items for her daughter to buy and asks the clerk to put the items back.” she explains while sharing a screenshot of the original clip.
“So she was pretty furious about it, because people were like, ‘Miss, you’re not going to put that item back,'” she continued.
It appears the mother of the ex made a follow-up post defending herself in response to the backlash, but she didn’t do herself any favors and probably just dug herself into an even deeper hole.
A mother has been criticized on social media for her so-called “parenting hack” of letting her daughter choose what she wants when they go shopping, but only letting her choose a few of the items she actually buys. There is.
“I don’t understand the world in which people think they have the right to just do their job,” she fumed.
“I ask my employees, ‘I don’t have time to put all this back together, can you help me?’ They are usually very nice and say yes, of course I can help. ”
“But secondly, that’s their job too. They’re not there to just stand there. Their job is to support customers in the store.”
But @unpluggedmoments told her mother to “respect them more.”
She likened it to “going to a restaurant, sitting down and unraveling all the table settings and silverware that someone had wrapped for me, and then, oh, I changed my mind.”
The original clip was deleted, but TikTok user @unpluggedmoments reposted it, offering her thoughts on the controversial parenting tip.
“I have the right,” says the commenter.
It’s unclear why the mother put her daughter through this exercise, but commenters had their own theories.
“It’s not a life hack. She’s just wasting people’s time. It’s also a terrible way to teach kids about budgeting and managing expectations while shopping.” one person said.
‘Yeah, who would still shop like that as an adult?’ It’s not like I’m looking at my daughter’s future,” another person pointed out.
“She’s definitely the woman who leaves hundreds of clothes in my dressing room for me to put back together,” said one.
“Yes, it’s their job to help customers, but mothers have the right to increase their workload,” another woman responded.
“They don’t have time to clean up after your kids,” chided another.
