Lonely Planet, the global travel authority, has announced the Lonely Planet Best in Travel 2025, revealing the most anticipated travel destinations for 2025. This is the 15th edition of Lonely Planet’s ‘Best in Travel’ hotlist, featuring 30 trending destinations across the region. , countries and cities, making it a must-see spot next year.
This selection has been meticulously curated by Lonely Planet’s international team of experts, including editors, writers and contributors from around the world. These experts looked at countless possibilities to identify the top 30 must-see global destinations across three different categories: cities, countries, and regions.
In the city category, Toulouse, France took the top spot. Dubbed “Paris in miniature,” Toulouse is a labyrinthine city known for its impressive art scene set in repurposed industrial spaces.
When it comes to countries, Cameroon stands out as this year’s number one destination. Cameroon, which will celebrate 65 years of independence in 2025, boasts notable cities such as Yaounde and Douala, characterized by beautiful beaches and African modernist architecture.
Regionally, the United States leads in the lowlands of South Carolina and coastal Georgia. This charming region has long attracted travelers with its miles of pristine beaches and lush wetlands, along with the historic city of Charleston and Savannah.
