Local author and artist Brenda Fleming has won the 2024 New Mexico-Arizona Book Award in the parenting and family category for her book “Short Front Legs: A Weary Mother’s View of Humanity.”
The New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards is on a mission to discover the best books from Arizona and New Mexico. Approximately 1,000 books were submitted to this project, which is in its 18th year. All books are judged by at least three judges.
“I’m honored to be recognized. I never thought anyone would read this book,” Fleming said. “But I’m so happy that this book brought joy to other people. I had so much fun writing it, so I hope others enjoy reading it too!”
Through 196 pages of anecdotes and comics, this book examines human habits through the lens of parenting.
