Active seniors looking for fun activities and information to enhance their lifestyle are invited to Thrive Milford – Senior Life After 55. The exhibit will be held at the Milford Senior Center on Friday, October 11th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Admission is free and open to everyone. This event is hosted by the Daily State News in partnership with the Milford Senior Center. The 2024 event sponsor is Easter Seals Delaware & Maryland Eastern Shore.
Explore the expo floor and learn from expertise in art, activities, health, home, finance, and more. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day. You don’t have to be present to win.
Tai Chi and aerobic drumming are two of the demonstrations guests can look forward to. In addition, Carl’s Gourmet Hot and Sandwiches will have a food truck on site.
“The great thing about our Thrive events is that they are a great one-on-one opportunity for seniors to listen to vendors and learn more about what they do and how they can help. ,” said Jessica Cook of DSN Events. manager.
For example, one time she enjoyed learning about a vendor’s home energy efficiency program. “They do all these really great things, and I hope each and every one of them will stop at that table and call us,” Cook said. “Sure, you can look something up online, but there’s a lot to be said for a face-to-face connection. PS is free, but it’s worth the price of admission.”
Now in its second year at the Milford Senior Center, Thrive is a daily activity center where independent seniors come together to enjoy activities, aerobics, food, and often day or weekend trips.
“This venue is such a great resource for seniors,” Cook said. Many programs, hobbies and services are offered through both the Senior Center and the October 11 Expo, making this event a great partnership.
“Anytime we can help share these resources with seniors, that’s what this whole event is about,” Cook said. “Milford is a very fast-growing area, with a large influx of retirees who want to be near the beach, so it’s great to be able to help represent these resources. It’s just growing by leaps and bounds.”
The Milford Senior Center is located at 111 Park Avenue downtown. Parking is free.
