That’s why many people are looking for smart solutions to their home decoration problems so that they can live in style without having to worry about money anymore.
The smartest shoppers at Kmart and Bunnings have a potential solution for those who are in desperate need of a new coffee table but can’t stand the idea of paying hundreds of dollars for a brand new coffee table. He gave it to me. In total, Jordan Wilkie from Newcastle spent about $50 remodeling an existing coffee table, giving it a fresh look and new life.
The creative customer told Yahoo Lifestyle that her method “required minimal preparation and was much less time-consuming than painting,” so even someone with no DIY experience could accomplish the same thing. He said he believed that.

“Our coffee table/TV unit didn’t match the decor, but it used to look good,” she explained. “I upcycled it using Kmart Self-Adhesive Film White Texture ($12), Kmart Gold Look Wave Handle ($8.50), and Bunnings Twine Rope (starting at $5.20).
“I’m happy with the results, but I think it will hold up for a few more years.”
As you can see from the photos, Jordan transformed an outdated black and glass unit into a chic, coastal-inspired piece that perfectly fits her home. As she describes it, it’s “a soft coastal vibe with a neutral palette and pops of orange.”

“We wanted to create something that would match our interior,” Jordan tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “I started with the idea of completely covering the cabinets with Kmart Textured Adhesive, but as I went along I came up with the idea of twine details. I’m a creative person at heart, Once I started the project, I realized that I could really do it. Be creative.”

Her creativity was certainly noticed and appreciated, and her posts were flooded with compliments such as:
“Really great, well done.”
“That’s amazing.”
“Wow, that’s great upcycling. It looks great.”
And I said, “Great, I really like it. It’s a big difference. You’re smart.”

How long does DIY take?
For time-poor people who want to step into the DIY world, Jordan assures us that this project isn’t as time-consuming as it seems.
“I worked on it piecemeal over several weekends and completed it, and it probably took me a total of three hours to complete,” she explains.

As for the most difficult part of the DIY project, Jordan said finding the right technique to apply the textured adhesive was the most difficult part.
“I wasted one roll practicing the application, but once I found the right technique it was very easy and quick to apply.In the end, all surfaces were bubble-free. “I had to pull the coffee table apart to make sure it was covered,” she said.
Advice for DIY enthusiasts
So what advice does Jordan have for anyone thinking of trying their own upcycling project?
“I recommend practicing on a small patch of glue before you actually start applying, or you might end up wasting a roll like I did,” she warns. “A glue gun is also your best friend. I used a glue gun to secure the twine. It’s really easy to use!”
