Joint Animal Services (JAS) is reminding pet owners to take extra steps to keep their animals safe during Halloween.
“Halloween may be spooky fun,” JAS acknowledged in a press release, “but it can also be stressful for your pet when masked trick-or-treaters come knocking on the door.” ”.
To help your pet, JAS also recommends keeping your pet in a quiet area of your home, away from the door, during Halloween.
While it’s nice to have a stash of pet treats, JAS warns that certain foods can be dangerous for animals, including chocolate, raisins, and artificial sweeteners such as xylitol, which are highly toxic to dogs. I’m doing it.
“Be aware of pet hazards when hanging decorations, and check your pet’s costume for comfort and safety,” it added.
The humane society also recommends making sure your pet wears an ID tag at all times.
“As a side note, be careful when choosing outdoor spider webs or outdoor decorations. Birds can fly in and get tangled in them. Be sure to check them often.”
