Somewhere between a hike in California’s redwood forests and a long dip in the ocean, Wood Sage & Sea Salt is a breath of fresh air. It has a mellow, refreshing, botanical scent. This cologne feels like it’s all about Markle. She comes across as friendly, likable, and curious, just like one of my favorite colognes. The great thing about this fragrance is that it’s approachable and easy to pick up and wear. It also contains a strong base note of sage, making it a very popular scent among the masses, especially when it comes to candles. Like Meghan, this fragrance is relatable and down-to-earth, and will probably suit most people perfectly. The soft touch blends beautifully into the skin.
Wood Sage & Sea Salt opens with top notes of ambrette seed. This is, simply put, a natural note comparable to musk, but with a hint of fruitiness. Bright and slightly sweet, it evens out as it dries down to a harmonious sea salt scent, like the one you lick your lips after spending hours swimming in the sea and savoring its salty air.
While testing Wood Sage & Sea Salt, I noticed that this cologne fades faster than Orange Blossom. It’s very muted at first, so it loses a bit of its apparent strength at the beginning of wear. However, like orange blossom, it adheres well to clothing. I think all the notes in this combination are very approachable. It’s a great everyday scent that isn’t too strong, yet still manages to hold its own. I think the average consumer will reach for this on a daily basis because of its relaxed feel and skin-friendly feel. I know it will happen.
