Jimmy O. Yang no longer writes Erlich Bachmann code.
On Tuesday, Hulu released the trailer for “Interior Chinatown,” a wild action-comedy series based on Charles Yu’s book of the same name. Yang, who plays the mild-mannered waiter, tries to get in over his head.
But first of all, he exists completely within the world.
“In Chinatown, nothing ever changes,” Willis Wu (Yang) opens the trailer. “Nothing interesting will happen to me, to you, or to anyone we know.”
“I feel like I’m a background character in someone else’s story,” Wu continues.
Well, he’s definitely and exactly right about that last part.
“Interior Chinatown” centers on Wu, a background character caught up in a police procedural called “Black and White.” As strange as it may sound, this show has a definite “Shrink It Ralph” vibe.
The show’s synopsis reads: “Relegated to the background, Willis waits tables and juggles on-screen duties, dreams of a world beyond Chinatown, and aspires to be the star of his own story. ” is written. “Willis inadvertently becomes a witness to a crime and begins to unravel Chinatown’s web of crime, while also discovering his family’s hidden history and what it feels like to be in the spotlight. Masu.”
This part is us again. And then Willis starts kicking some serious ass. In addition, it turns out that Ronnie Cheng is very good at using wall phones, and there is also a Komodo dragon…
Chloe Bennet, Lisa Gilroy, Sullivan Jones, Archie Kao, and Diana Lin also star in the series.
Mr. Yu, the show’s creator, is joined by Dan Lin and Lindsey Liberatore from “Ride Back,” Jeff Skoll, Miura Kite, and Elsie Choi from “The Participant,” Garrett Basch from “Dive,” and John. Lee and Taika Waititi, who also directed the pilot, served as executive producers. The 10-episode limited series will be produced by 20th Television.
All episodes of “Interior Chinatown” will premiere on Hulu on Nov. 19. Watch the trailer here:
