LOS ANGELES — Hulu’s newest original series, “Interior Chinatown,” from executive producer Taika Waititi and creator/executive producer Charles Yu, will premiere in 10 episodes this November.
This limited series stars Jimmy O. Yang, Ronnie Chen, and Chloe Bennet and is based on Charles Yu’s award-winning book of the same name. Waititi also directed the pilot episode.
“Interior Chinatown” depicts “Willis Wu, a background character trapped in a police procedural called ‘Black and White.’ Relegated to the background, Willis completes his on-screen job as a waiter, dreams of a world beyond Chinatown, and wishes to be the hero of his own story, but ends up inadvertently witnessing a crime. As you unravel Chinatown’s web of crime, you discover your family’s hidden history and what it feels like to be in the spotlight. ”

“I don’t think it’s anything I’ve ever seen before,” Yang explained. “This is a mystery. This is a show within a show. It’s really clever, but incredibly funny at the same time.”
“It’s been a wild ride,” Yu said on the red carpet.
“I read his book in one sitting, and I think it really resonated with me. It’s about my own journey and the journey of AAPI, Asian Americans in this country, and there are some great metaphors in it. But at the end of the day, I think this is an underdog story that everyone can relate to,” Yang said.
All 10 episodes of “Interior Chinatown” will be released on Hulu on November 19th.
The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Hulu and this ABC station.
