US-based space habitation startup Vast is promoting a new interior design concept for long-term space station habitation called Haven-1. Their idea for the “world’s first commercial space station” would be aimed at astronauts working in low-Earth orbit, offering slightly more living space than the International Space Station’s crew quarters.
This design solves the known problem of discomfort while sleeping in a zero gravity environment. A small (848 cubic feet) common area and Haven-1 laboratory connect to the living space.

According to the company’s project announcement, the station will have “a special focus on ensuring the fusion of form and function to provide greater comfort and quality of life for long-term missions” until August 2025. The launch is expected.
As The Washington Post previously reported, the station will be launched into orbit by SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket.
