Singapore, Oct 19 (PTI) India is a staunch promoter of yoga globally and individual and organizational efforts are needed to continue promoting yoga as a healthy way of life around the world, says India’s top official. a diplomat said here on Saturday.
Speaking at an international conference on Inclusive Wellness Strategies organized by the Singapore-based Yoga Institute of India, India’s Deputy High Commissioner Pooja Thiru urged participants to “unify us as part of the world. “I called on my family to continue to embrace the practice of yoga as a guiding light.” “The Government of India is adamantly promoting yoga globally and this is evidenced by the United Nations declaring June 21st as International Day of Yoga, a proposal that has received the support of 177 countries,” Tir said. The two-day conference is hosted by Vyasa Yoga SG, Singapore’s leading yoga institute, as part of this month’s Silver Jubilee celebrations.
