November is National Senior Pet Adoption Month, a time dedicated to celebrating the companionship and charm of senior shelter pets. This November, Humane Pennsylvania will waive adoption fees for senior pets ages 8 and older at both its Lancaster Adoption Center and Freedom Center for Animal Rescue in Reading. For Berks County residents, this means the opportunity to take home a loving senior pet from a local Redding shelter for free.
This fee waiver is available from November 1st to November 30th and was made possible by a generous anonymous donor who has supported Humane Pennsylvania’s mission for many years. “We believe that all pets deserve a loving home, especially those who have given so much to us throughout their lives. By covering adoption fees, we hope to encourage others to open their hearts and homes to these worthy animals. These senior pets are waiting to share their love with you. Please, love is ageless,” the sponsor said.
As part of this effort, senior pets adopted from Humane Pennsylvania receive comprehensive care, including spaying/neutering, vaccinations (including rabies), deworming, flea treatment, and microchipping. Comes with a package. Adopters will also receive a 1-pound bag of Science Diet pet food to ease the transition.
Adoption efforts will be centered at Humane Pennsylvania’s Animal Rescue Freedom Center, located at 1801 N. 11th Street in Reading, where Berks County residents can visit and meet potential new family members in person. becomes easier. The Freedom Center operates daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with adoption hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In line with Humane Pennsylvania’s commitment to animal welfare, all adopters must complete a thorough vetting process to ensure each pet finds the right forever home. Although approval is not guaranteed, those interested in adopting a senior pet are encouraged to visit during business hours or browse available senior pets online at HumanePA.org .
