One tip to keep your pet safe is to place decorations a little higher so your pet can’t get inside.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — It’s Halloween week, which means little ghosts and goblins are getting ready for trick-or-treating. However, if you have a pet, you may want to make sure your pet is ready too.
Halloween can be scary for pets because of the extra activity in the house, including strange guests, loud noises, and the chance to put their mouths on food they shouldn’t eat. Pet costumes can be cute, but some animals may not like costumes.
Experts at the University of Tennessee Agricultural Research Institute said it’s best to keep pets out of doorways and away from strangers.
“We want to see if the pet has an idea in case we need to find one,” says UT Gardens Editor-in-Chief James Newbern. “Just as you would keep a lit jack-o-lantern out of the way, keep candles and decorations out of the way. Pets don’t know where their stories are going, so burning their fur is a risk.” there is no.”
Newbern also suggests placing decorations a little higher up so pets can’t get into them. Also, if your pet can wear a costume, be careful not to cover its eyes, ears, or mouth.
