Delays are an unfortunate part of air travel, but how much time travelers actually waste varies by airport, according to Upgrade Points.

The travel website released a study focusing on how much time travelers waste at U.S. airports, and Logan Airport was ranked 16th out of 50 airports.
The study used data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics and Google Flights to analyze average flight delays, taxi drop-off times, and connection times.
“Whether you’re a frequent flyer or an occasional traveler, the last thing anyone wants to do is waste time at the airport,” Upgrade Point Editor-in-Chief Keri Stokesberry said in a statement. Ta. “Unfortunately, delays, tarmac waits, equipment maintenance and long layovers are often unavoidable. Our latest research shows travelers which airports experience these delays. It helps travelers better prepare and minimize frustration.
According to this study, travelers waste an average of 29 minutes due to delays at major U.S. airports. At Logan, the total time wasted due to delays was 32.2 minutes, including 11.7 minutes for departure delays and 20.5 minutes for tarmac delays.
According to the report, travelers experience the most delays at Miami International Airport, with an average departure delay of 24.6 minutes and an average taxi-out time of 22.6 minutes, for a total of 47.1 minutes. Kahului Airport in Maui, Hawaii, has the least wasted time for passengers, with an average departure delay of 5.7 minutes and an average taxi-out time of 10.5 minutes for a total of 16.2 minutes.
The study also looked at average layover times at U.S. airports using data from Google Flights on more than 30,000 cross-border flights collected over five days. The average layover time at Logan Airport is 3 hours and 35 minutes, one minute more than the overall average of 3 hours and 34 minutes.
The airport with the longest layover time is Hawaii’s Kahului Airport, where passengers lose the least amount of time due to delays, with an average of 5 hours and 8 minutes. The shortest connection time is 2 hours and 46 minutes at San Antonio International Airport, Texas.
